Marvin J. Hammerman
New Jersey Civil Litigation and PERSONAL INJURY TRIAL Attorney
Marvin Hammerman is a distinguished civil litigation and personal injury trial attorney, serving as the managing partner at Hammerman Rosen LLP. He has consistently earned the Super Lawyers Rising Star designation from 2018 to 2023 in civil litigation. Marvin focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, representing individuals or businesses seeking monetary damages, specific performance or other remedies from the Court, spanning personal injury, consumer fraud cases, contract disputes, and construction litigation. He has litigated countless cases throughout the superior courts in northern New Jersey, the Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey, and Appellate Courts.
Marvin graduated magna cum laude from Montclair State University in 2010, majoring in Jurisprudence with minors in political science, philosophy, and Spanish. He holds a certificate in Spanish language and culture from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, Spain, and is proficient in conversational Spanish. Marvin also ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
Marvin is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law – Newark, class of 2013. During law school, Marvin worked with the Rutgers Legal Assistance Clinic, and authored a thesis on cognitive psychology, influence and persuasion and the impact on juror decision-making. Marvin also interned with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office – Division of Consumer Affairs where he worked with the professional licensing boards and served as a mediator with the Division of Consumer Affairs – Alternate Dispute Resolution Unit in Newark, New Jersey.
Marvin has been an adjunct lecturer at Rutgers School of Law - Newark in the areas of Evidence and Trial Presentations since 2018 and consistently serves as a mock trial judge for law student mock trials as well as local trial presentation competitions.
As a former Associate at a prominent New Jersey insurance defense law firm, Mr. Hammerman was mentored by highly-regarded trial attorneys and gained valuable experience in all aspects of civil litigation, from pre-litigation fact investigation through discovery preparation, settlement negotiation and trial presentation. He gained valuable experience handling personal injury and automobile negligence cases, insurance coverage disputes, consumer fraud litigation, municipality defense, and premises liability cases. He also gained additional legal experience handling medical malpractice cases, corporate formation and business law, landlord-tenant and real estate transactions, estate litigation and appellate advocacy.

Mr. Hammerman has since completed further extensive training in the areas of cognitive psychology and mediation, which include courses with the Nonverbal Group focused on learning to extract information from nonverbal behaviors, and professional mediation training with the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators. Mr. Hammerman is a member of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, the New Jersey Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Since founding Hammerman Rosen LLP, Marvin has represented over a thousand clients in New Jersey, securing millions in recoveries and consistently achieving favorable outcomes and substantial settlements. Mr. Hammerman’s experience as an insurance defense attorney gives him a strong inside understanding of insurance company defense strategy which he brings to the representation of his clients.
Marvin lives in Fairfield, New Jersey with his wife and son. He is an avid chess player and an automotive enthusiast who holds a certification in auto mechanics and has a continued passion for automobile modification and performance.
